26 year old star in the making
Here's something you expect
from established actresses in the industry. But Genelia showed that she has
matured and actually grown up when she celebrated her birthday with the crew of
her upcoming movie 'Life Partner', as told by sources close to the actress.
Genelia cut a sumptuous cake
with director Rumi Jaffrey and filmmakers Abbas-Mastan. Wonder whose idea it was
to get the delicious cake! Genelia was also super excited with the fact that she
shares her birthday with her favorite actress Kajol.
Last year the success of her
movie 'Jane Tu Ya Jane Na' was Genelia's best birthday present. This year the
actress hopes for a similar present as her movie 'Life Partner' is up for
release next Friday.
Genelia was born in London but
did her schooling from Apostolic Carmel High School in Bandra, Mumbai. She did
her major in Business Administration from St. Andrews College in Bandra.
In the year 2003, Tamil
director Shankar saw her in a commercial with Amitabh Bachchan and decided to
cast her in the leading role of the Tamil version of his film 'Boys'. She
started her career in 2003 with a bang by doing three movies namely, the Hindi
movie 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' opposite Ritesh Deshmukh; the Tamil movie 'Boys' and
the Telugu movie 'Satyam'. Telgu movie 'Bommarillu' was her biggest hit before
'Jane Tu Ya Jane Na' for which she also got the Filmfare for best actress in
Besides acting, Genelia has to
her credit of being a state level athlete and a national level football player.
Forthcoming movies in her kitty
for the year 2009 are 'It's My Life'- a remake of 'Bommarillu' co starring
Harman Baweja, 'Life Partner' with Fardeen Khan, David Dhawan's 'Hook Ya Crook'
with John Abraham which is about cricket and the Telugu movie 'Sasirekha
Parinayam' with Tarun and is said to be on the lines of 'Jab We Met'.
Genelia's most notable
endorsements have been for Fair and Lovely, Cricket World Cup 2003 with Kris
Shrikanth and Parker pens with Amitabh Bachchan. She is now the brand ambassador
of the new 'Fanta' replacing Rani Mukherjee and has also become the brand
ambassador for 'Perk' where she has replaced Preity Zinta. Looks like this
actress is sure on the superhighway of success!
